None of us arrive here on earth either alone or without a purpose. We are from God and by God we have each been given a calling, a purpose, and the skills, talents, and grace needed to live out that divine vocation with meaning and purpose. It helps, some say it is required, to live closely enough with others in community to have our true identity and purpose mirrored back to us through the eyes of those who know us best.

There are many various ways to be of help in support of the ministry of AMC, some quite demanding, others less so, but each representing at least one small way you might venture forth to discover a greater, enduring sense of belonging and purpose in service to God and Neighbor.

Altar Guild ~ Join in caring for the liturgical space and supplies needed for worship on Sundays, weekdays and holy day services, as well as baptisms, weddings and funerals.

Hospitality ~ Join in planning and overseeing parish socials, large and small, from purchasing supplies to serving excellent coffee and great snacks, making parishioners and guests feel at home through friendly, attentive service.

Building & Grounds ~ Join in with working with our Parish Sexton to maintain clean, safe, and attractive facilities inside and out for all to enjoy.

Choirs & Music ~ Music continues to play a vital role in the life and health of our parish. Lend your voice and/or musical talent to an already exquisite sounding group of musicians and choir members.

Endowment ~ Join in helping the church serve as a responsible steward of the financial holdings and bequests entrusted to its care now and for the future.

Fundraising ~ Come have fun helping the fundraising team plan and execute social and foodie events in support of our church community and in service to the community.

Greeters ~ Be at the door with a smile and a welcome to our Ascension family and newcomers as they enter to worship.

Home Groups ~ Small gatherings of parishioners who meet in host's homes and share a desire to cultivate a greater awareness of God's presence in their lives.

Saturday Men's Group ~ The Rector guides this ongoing group in intriguing discussions of God's word and how that relates to us in our Christian mission of being in community.

Missions/Outreach ~ Join in being of service to a variety of local, regional and national/international outreach initiatives. They include: Open Door Food Pantry, Common Cathedral, Family Promise, Council on Aging, Dinner Bell, Winter Warm-up Sale, and community development in Haiti, Guatemala and Cuba.

Our Story Nursery ~ Help build foundations of faith while providing a safe and nurturing environment for our littlest ones while their parents worship, get connected, and grow in faith.

Our Space Youth Group ~ Help lead a fun and welcoming curriculum for 6th-8th graders by offering dinners, movies, and discussion for helping them understand people, relationships, and how we find our place and path in the world.

Our Beach Sunday School ~ Join a team of teachers using our own creative curriculum to learn and explore biblical stories while engaging the hearts, minds and imaginations of children grades K-5.

High School Youth Group ~ Help serve as advisor to this great, fun bunch of kids. They meet weekly to stay connected, offer community service, plan for overnight recreational trips and extended mission trips.

Stewardship ~ Help design and implement the Annual Fall Pledge Campaign.

Sunday Service Volunteers ~ There is always need of a new acolyte, chalice bearer, lector, or usher among the many important roles required each Sunday to make services unfold smoothly and enjoyably for all. There is a place for you!

Tiki's Friends ~ As the Rector's pastoral care team, you will be matched with a parishioner needing a social visit. These visits are done on a flexible schedule, averaging about a one-hour commitment each week or every other week.

Worship ~ Assist in making decisions on various aspects of the liturgical life of the church. We focus on ensuring the liturgies are welcoming and relevant to the concerns of the parish and to those of the wider world, and are carried out with dignity and forethought.
